Yeaps... still breathing ...
One of the farm's hatchery 'leader' (that's what they call timbalan managers) once mentioned that the black chicks is like an amalgam of Indian+Chinese...
Say it again ... AWWWWwwww.... So CUTE!
- Late November - Early December: Having one heck of a time pulling chicken feathers, poking 'em with vaccination syringes and posing with black chicks in Dindings Chicken Breeder-Broiler Farm in Perak with 5 other coursemates: Mark, Ah Teh, Adrian, Chai Har and Sim Yean. Yes, it's the chicken company that got into trouble with the 'halal' slaughtering issue. No, it's not our fault that it happened. We were there learning, not spying a month before the article even crop up. Anyway, the workers there are incredibly 'sporting' that we had 3 weeks of fun (despite it being an 'industrial training') and forging multi-international friendships. Yaiks... I sound like a rencana. For more details, go to Mark's blog. Got to know a Nepalese word for cat from a Nepalese-Indian guy who cannot speak a single word of malay and only communicates in his own language + sign language. Miaow Miaow = Bilai ...
The cat that was named Bilai... Coincidentally I was browsing through and showing my digicam pictures I took around the farm to the Indian-Nepalese guy when he suddenly screams BILAI! while terserempak-ing with this photo. Finally, a communication breakthrough after not understanding a single thing he said for the past two days...
- On the last day of poultry practical : Went for a visit to Pasir Panjang Turtle Conservation Center with the remaining four people after Sim Yean went back. Saw this cat miaow-ing for help from the roof top while scouting for baby turtles to eat... yucks...
The Malaysian Garfield clone: I swear! I won't eat baby turtles anymore! Just get me down from here!
- December-2nd January : Back in Kuching, celebrating Christmas and New Year with my family finally after 3 years being the missing person in every Christmas get-together photos. Went out cruising around the city and balking at new magistrate buildings and zen-themed coffeeshops (like Bla bla bla). Saw the hanging lamp banners on the way back from the airport and I was like ... What the heck is TRAVILION!? ... until finally going around what-was-previously-an-abandoned-area behind AmBank in Padungan. It's amazing how one rubbish dump area can quickly transform into Bintang-Walk wannabe in just five months. Missed classes for a week and went back to KL with a mind picture of my dad dressing as Santa Claus jumping up and down on a trampoline my mum gave him as a present.
Chicks galore !
- January : Mountains of overdue assignments, surgery read-ups and faculty functions. Finally (& happily) relinquishing my role as the webmaster for the Zoologico club to the next victim BUT not yet free from being the IT person for my last faculty function. But in the end... I'm FREE!!!
Warrghhh... Feel like squeezing this thing!
- Still January : Spent my CNY with Sandra in UM... Nothing much except going to Midvalley doing nothing every day, meet up with Sab and her boyfriend from OMAN (yes..that Middle East country) , suffered a shock from a room invasion from UM's notorious monyets, almost get caught by the security TWICE (coincidentally, UM got robbed on the first day of my stay, itulah sebabnya the security suddenly become so kiasu...), a short reunion with Juliza and Erma, and getting a new haircut...yes, in Midvalley.
Peek - a - boo !
- February until last friday : Students in 3rd year are getting too lovey-dovey... Imagine, four couples just sprouted up in just the first 8 weeks of this semester only! Yikes... It's getting scary... Even one of my coursemates are getting desperate in getting a boyfriend menjelang Valentine. Just like someone mentioned; 1st year - tahun berkenalan , 2nd year - tahun merisik, 3rd year - tahun mencuba dan bercouple. No, I don't have anyone yet... I don't even have time to sleep, and you're asking about getting another half!? Gila babi ...
Ayam kenak tempias kawan !
- Last Friday : Went to watch CIMB KL-Open Squash Championship in Berjaya Times Square straight after clinical conference with Mark, Jason, Kak Shamsiah, Kak Azita and Mei Chen. This is the first time ever I saw Nicole David in the flesh. Hope my squash-fanatic cuzzie won't bash me up for this.. : P ... The semifinals was really really sengit, and the last game was so freakingly scarily long. Nicole really defended the court despite on several occasions almost losing it to the Aussie Natalie Grinham, but in the end it paid off. The Aussie just let the ball fly after seeing that there's no use going on with the game. Tried to get a photo with Nicole but somehow her coach managed to slip her through the crowds and escape into a lift up to the hotel. Tried also in taking picture with the Aussie, but then everyone suddenly goes camera shy and her coach shooed everyone away to allow her to rest. Suddenly ada semangat want to play squash especially after Jason suggested to meet up and play every Thursday evening...
Kittens snoozing after a tiring day prowling outside the farm and being smothered dengan kasih sayang by the farm clerk.
- Yesterday : The annual Faculty Sport's Day. Ran for 400 metre women (replacing a friend who had a sudden tragedy in her family) and puked and having painful cramps at the end of the run. This is one of the main reason why I don't like running. DVM 3 got second place again for cheerleading, but they really improved this year and almost got first place by a close 3 marks ONLY! Video will be up soon. Kudos to everyone!
Beetles for their juice. Got them from the chicken bedding made out of rice husks. They were (disgustingly) crushed and juices are extracted out of them to test for bacteria and fungi.
Well folks, there goes my chronology of events for the past 3 months. Happy belated blessed Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year and Valentine Day to everyone, happy belated birthday to everyone born in December - February. Garh...too exhausted to go on typing... need to crack my lactic-acid-laddened back after the run yesterday.
Teluk Senangin, near the chicken farm. Abang Syam (one of the lab technician in the farm) brought us around the area for a short break.
Angry waves crashing in at Pasir Panjang near the Turtle Conservation Center... While driving there, we almost thought we could have fallen into the sea 'cos the road's horizon suddenly cuts into the sea sky and as though there was no more road after that.
